On March 31, the Vietnam Association for Medical and Biological Research and Application (VAMBRA), in collaboration with the Vietnam Association of Hospital Pharmacists (VAHP), successfully organized the scientific seminar "Digital Transformation in Hospital Pharmacy Management." The event marks a significant milestone in integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into clinical practice, moving toward a modern, data-driven digital healthcare ecosystem.

The program was honored by the presence of:

  • Dr. Nguyen Tri Thuc, Deputy Minister of Health;

  • Representatives from various Ministries, Departments, provincial Health Departments, and central hospitals;

  • Over 200 pharmacists, heads of pharmacy departments, and medical experts from across Northern Vietnam.

The seminar served not only as an academic forum but also as a strategic bridge between healthcare organizations, experts, and technology enterprises. Its primary goal is to realize the objective of enhancing treatment quality and patient safety through innovative technological solutions.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Tri Thuc emphasized: “Digital transformation in pharmacy management is no longer just a trend; it is an imperative necessity.” The Deputy Minister identified two critical pillars for focus: Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Electronic Prescribing. Full digitalization will not only optimize resources and reduce waste but also serve as a vital tool for the Ministry of Health to monitor drug utilization nationwide and provide early disease warnings based on consumption data fluctuations.

A highlight of the event was the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Signing Ceremony between VAMBRA, the Vietnam Association of Hospital Pharmacists (VAHP), and the Vietnam Association of Functional Foods (VAFF).

Through these agreements, VAMBRA aims to:

  • Build an Integrated Ecosystem: Establishing close links between hospital pharmacy, biomedical technology, and the functional food sector.

  • Data Sharing & Specialized Training: Creating a shared data platform to promote applied research and enhance digital competency for pharmacists.

  • Resource Coordination: Developing models that bridge the gap between academic training, scientific research, and practical application.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Huan, President of VAMBRA, stated: “As an interdisciplinary scientific organization, VAMBRA serves as a coordinator to build a collaborative ecosystem among professional organizations, educational institutions, and enterprises. We are committed to promoting practical technological solutions that foster an innovative foundation for the biomedical field in Vietnam.”

Within the framework of the program, an intensive AI training session attracted significant interest. Experts from VietHealth guided over 200 participants on:

  • Prompt Optimization: Utilizing AI to screen drug interactions and analyze complex prescriptions.

  • Personalized Dosage: Applying AI to cross-reference the latest medical literature for precise clinical decision-making.

  • Data Security: Addressing challenges in medical information safety and methods to verify AI accuracy against official sources.
