On December 17, 2025, the Vietnam Association of Medical and Biomedical Research & Applications (VAMBRA) conducted its first official working session with representatives from Singapore BioDesign, a regional program under the Stanford BioDesign framework. This meeting marks a significant milestone in VAMBRA’s global connectivity efforts aimed at advancing medical technology innovation in Vietnam.
High-Level Dialogue and Future Prospects
The high-level session featured distinguished leaders from Singapore BioDesign:
Dr. Lee Phin Peng – Program Director (SB Program Director).
Dr. Tan Ee Lim – Deputy Program Director (SB Dy Program Director).
Representing the Vietnam Association of Medical and Biomedical Research & Applications (VAMBRA):
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Huan – Chairman of the Board.
Dr. Nguyen Dinh Nguyen – Chief Medical Officer of VietHealth.
Both parties engaged in profound discussions regarding the implementation of the BioDesign training model within the Vietnamese market. The leadership of Singapore BioDesign highly commended VAMBRA’s potential and its proactive approach in laying the foundation for the nation’s biomedical technology landscape.

A Shared Vision for Biomedical Innovation
The Stanford Biodesign program has long established itself as a premier hub for collaboration among distinguished faculty and elite students. With a unified vision to innovate biomedical engineering through invention, education, ethics, and policy, Biodesign transcends traditional research by focusing heavily on technology transfer and professional services.
The program’s core mission is to cultivate and empower future leaders in the biomedical field. By utilizing diverse pedagogical approaches—ranging from intensive courses and research fellowships to workshops and collaborative team-based projects—Biodesign has fostered a robust ecosystem serving the global Biomedical Engineering (BME) community.
Towards the Launch of BioDesign Vietnam
Through this committed partnership, VAMBRA and Singapore Biodesign aim to launch the first training cohorts following Stanford Biodesign standards by mid-2026. This initiative will serve as a solid foundation for a long-term roadmap: the progressive establishment of BioDesign Vietnam.
Partnering with a prestigious program from Stanford University not only provides Vietnamese healthcare professionals with access to the world’s most advanced innovation processes but also accelerates the "lab-to-market" transition, bringing technological solutions directly to the service of public health.
