VAMBRA Facilitates Strategic Collaboration Between UMP HCMC and SingHealth in International Research and Innovation

On September 26, 2025, the Vietnam Association of Medical and Biomedical Research & Applications (VAMBRA) organized a high-level working session at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City (UMP), with the participation of:

  • Assoc. Prof. Vuong Thi Ngoc Lan, PhD – Vice President of UMP.

  • Assoc. Prof. Tran Ngoc Dang, PhD – Deputy Head of the Science and Technology Department.

  • Representatives from the Science and Training Department of UMP Medical Center (UMC).

  • Dr. Cheong Wai Chye – Deputy Director of the Alice Lee Innovation Centre of Excellence (A.L.I.C.E), SingHealth (Singapore).

  • Dr. Nguyen Dinh Nguyen – Chief Medical Officer of VietHealth.

Sharing Achievements and Collaborative Directions

During the session, UMP and SingHealth presented their outstanding achievements in scientific research and healthcare innovation. The delegates discussed numerous potential collaborative opportunities between these two leading medical institutions of Vietnam and Singapore.

The parties reached a consensus on several core pillars of cooperation, including:

  • Implementing Joint Research Projects: Collaborating on high-impact studies and actively seeking international funding opportunities.

  • Fostering Academic and Research Exchanges: Facilitating the mobility of scholars and research groups between Vietnam and Singapore to enhance knowledge sharing.

  • Developing an Innovation Ecosystem at UMP: Leveraging Singapore’s expertise to build a robust innovation framework through specialized teaching, capacity-building programs, and experience sharing.


VAMBRA’s Role as a Strategic Link

With a mission to integrate domestic research, training, and biomedical technology with global networks, VAMBRA is proud to serve as the bridge connecting UMP HCMC with SingHealth—Singapore’s largest group of public healthcare institutions.


This milestone further reaffirms VAMBRA’s commitment to driving international collaboration. These efforts not only enhance Vietnam’s medical research, training, and innovation capacity but also solidify the nation’s presence on the global biomedical map.
